Sophomore Year (10th Grade)
Recruiting Rules
- You may receive camp brochures and questionnaires
- You may call the coach at your own expense, but the coach CANNOT call you
- Off-campus contact and official visits are NOT permitted
- Unofficial visits are permitted ONLY if they are organized without the assistance of the coaching staff, and if NO meetings with the staff are coordinated
- Allowed anytime for Division II
Eligibility
- Register with the NCAA Eligibility Center (https://web3.ncaa.org/ecwr3/)
- For Division I and II, register for a Certification Account. For Division III or unknown, register for a Profile Page.
- Allow 30-45 minutes to register completely.
- Have this info on hand:
- High school CEEB/ACT code
- Valid email address
- Basic student information
- Basic student education history
- Student Sports Participation History (paid expenses, awards, recruiting advisors, etc.)
- $80 USD fee for Canadians
Junior Year (11th Grade)
Recruiting Rules
- You may begin to receive recruiting material and information from the coach starting on September 1st
- You may call the coach at your own expense. The coach can call you starting on September 1st.
- Division II allows phone calls starting on June 15th prior to the Junior Year
- All forms of electronic communication (IM, email, texts, etc.) are permitted starting on September 1st. The communication must be private between the athlete and the coach
- Division II allows electronic communication starting on June 15th prior to the Junior Year
- Off-campus contact is permitted July 1st AFTER your Junior Year
- Division II allows in-person off-campus contact starting on June 15th prior to the Junior Year
- Official visits are allowed beginning on September 1st
- Prospects are allowed one visit per college and a maximum of 5 visits to D1 schools, and unlimited for D2, D3 and NAIA schools.
- Division II allows official visits starting on June 15th prior to the Junior Year
- Unlimited unofficial visits are permitted, beginning on September 1st
Eligibility
- Take the ACT or SAT and make sure the NCAA gets your scores by using the code 9999
- At the end of the school year, ask your counselor to upload your transcript
Senior Year (12th Grade)
Recruiting Rules
- You can receive material and information from the coach
- You can call the coach at your own expense and the coach can call you
- All forms of electronic communication are permitted
- Off-campus contact is allowed, but no more than 3 TIMES
- Official visits are permitted
- Prospects are allowed one visit per college and a maximum of 5 visits to D1 schools, and unlimited for D2, D3 and NAIA schools.
- Unlimited unofficial visits are permitted
Eligibility
- Take the ACT or SAT again, if necessary, and use the code 9999
- Request final amateurism certificate after April 1st
- After graduation, get your counselor to upload your final transcript with proof of graduation
Other Important Information
- Women’s volleyball- coaches only have 80 days in which to evaluate you. They cannot exceed that number
- College coaches have 80 evaluation days and 20 additional evaluation days (for sand volleyball competition only)
- College coaches can evaluate and/or contact you no more than 7 times during your senior year
- During your senior year, a college coach cannot contact you more than 3 times
Academic Standards
- Division I
- Complete 16 NCAA Core Courses
- 4 years of English
- 3 years of math (Algebra I or higher)
- 2 years of natural/physical science (including 1 year of lab science if your high school offers it)
- 2 years of social science
- 1 additional year of English, math, or natural/physical science
- 4 additional years of English, math, natural/physical science, social science, foreign language, comparative religion or philosophy
- Complete 10 NCAA core courses, including seven in English, math or natural/physical science, before your seventh semester.
- Earn at least a 2.3 GPA in your NCAA core courses.
- Earn an ACT sum score or SAT combined score that matches your core-course GPA on the Division I sliding scale.
- Division II
- Complete 16 NCAA core courses
- 3 years of English
- 2 years of math (Algebra 1 or higher)
- 2 years of natural or physical science (including one year of lab science if your high school offers it)
- 2 years of social science
- 3 additional years of English, math or natural or physical science
- 4 additional years of English, math, natural or physical science, social science, foreign language, comparative religion or philosophy
- Earn at least a 2.2 GPA in your NCAA core courses.
- Earn an ACT sum score or SAT combined score that matches your core-course GPA on the Division II sliding scale.
- Divisions I and II use sliding scales to match test scores and GPAs to determine eligibility. The sliding scale balances your test score with your GPA. If you have a low test score, you need a higher GPA to be eligible. If you have a low GPA, you need a higher test score to be eligible.
